


I highly recommend The Weight of Rain to anyone looking for a collection of short stories that will give you a glimpse into humanity, leaving you feeling all sorts of emotions. Each unique story focuses on the story of a person or a group of people, yet, through the common elements of humanity, I felt as if all of the stories were connected. What I loved most about this collection of short stories is that the stories read like nonfiction, although this is a collection of fiction stories. It takes a talented author to have the ability to engage a reader in just a few pages of a short story while still providing a complete storyline. After forming that connection with Eira, I ended up reading the entire book in one sitting and found myself wishing for more afterward. I personally connected to this story as Fibromyalgia is something I’ve been diagnosed with for several years. Eira’s interactions with others are impacted due to her chronic pain and the story shares this with readers. Sunflower follows Eira, who is suffering from chronic pain. This was my favorite short story from The Weight of Rain. I quickly abandoned that plan because I enjoyed the first story, Sunflower, so much that I just had to keep reading.
